Here is an extract from the Step 7 v. 5.4 Programming manual: The STEP 7 Standard Package Standards Used The SIMATIC programming languages integrated in STEP 7 are compliant with EN 61131-3. The standard package matches the graphic and object oriented operating philosophy of Windows and runs under the operating system MS Windows 2000 Professional (as of now referred to as Windows 2000) as well as MS Windows XP Professional So you would need a Windows emulator on your machine, along with standard licenses. JMJ Posts: 487 Rating: (45)	I guess you are talking about Step7. Step7 software is not released for Mac. It only supports windows. You may be able to use VMware fusion to create a virtual machine on windows on mac. But I am not sure of the communication possibilities

I have worked with Step7 running in a virtual machine (using VMWare) and communications work fine... the only difference is that the VM runs in windows also, so, it is not exactly your approach... however it should not behave so different. Let us know how you solved your problem, it could have several applications =)

I forgot to explain which kind of communication I dont like to install Simatic software directly on my laptop, so when I really have to work with it I do it on a Virtual Drive. As it is usually only for tests, the communication to the PLCs I use a MPI with USB adaptor ... And until now it has worked properly.. I also dont do it so often, and definetly not for critic or final systems, but I did not experiment any kind of failure... mmmmm weird...I cannot help you further because I also dont know my self all the settings from the VMWare station
