Please make an image of yourPC before installing WinCC V11 Compact/Advanced SP2. We use HP Compaq 8710p laptops for simatic programming with XP SP3 as OS. After installation of WinCC V11 Compact/Advanced SP2 the system ends up in a BSOD. see also my previous post with topic "delete temporary files" Anyone else having problems with SP2 or using these laptops or any adviceon this ? We have to finish a project with TIA a.s.a.p. so next try will be a Win7 system..... UPDATE: ==================================================== The problem seems to occur only on HP-laptops see http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/58217334 |

Thank you for sharing that info/behavior for/of SP2. Did you ask Support Request about that? I think this is the right way... It might be some bug in case of XP Windows as all recently released Siemens updates concerning Windows7 64bits... best regards, Hristo Mihalev |

I have the same problem on my HP compaq8710w. Windows does not even start anymore, not even in safe mode. How to repair this without losing the licensekeys? |

Are you using Windows 7 or XP? At least in Windows 7 you can use system restore to repair windows. If you have a recent restore point you should have no problems. This will not delete your licence keys but software may become unusable if it is installed after making a restore point. I would assume system restore works also in XP but I have not personally tested it. Instructions how to use system restorecan be found here Note! If you have bitlocker enabled you should have your recovery password printed out before you can restore your computer.
