MAS 21: Siemens TC65 in set21 example?

epg Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hello, I've yo questions to pose about the MAS21 example 1) It's possible to use the Siemens TC65 modem instead of MD720-3 for the MAS21 sample project? There are modifications to do in the blocks library to achieve this job? 2) The library is password protected. It's possible to open the blocks (Ican openthe set5 library because the password is declared in the library comments [pw: "1234"] andtheMAS21_S7-200 Bibliothek_v1d3.mwl [pw: "gprs"] so I think may be possible to open the "sinautmicrosc.mwl" library of set21 example but I don't know the correct password) to eventually modify some internal code? Thank you in advance

Mike(tm) Posts: 14 Rating: (5)	Hi epg, i am awful sorry about following. i have to refuse both of your questions. 1) no its not possible to use TC65 Terminal. In the MD720-3 there is a special FirmWare which transfers the plc-given data into a tcp/ip paket and send it via vpn-tunnel to the server. It also handles confirmations, poll requests and so on. So there is big acknowledge inside. The TC65 is compatible to GPRS AT commands. So in general you can program your own GPRS solution in combination with the onbard JAVA Engine. But in sum when you compare engineering costs for your own solution with the costs of a MD720-3 ....... 2) Sorry i think Siemens won´t hand out the password for this library. But to find a solution which fits to your automation task: Why do you want to use a TC65 Terminal? regards Lif

epg Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi Mike, it's sad to hear that I can't use the TC65 with set21and I can't modify the library to fit my needs All I want to do is to send an image af some PLCvars (ie I0.0..I0.5 Q0.0..Q0.4 and some other process variables)via GPRS because I can use a convenientprice x Megabyte, so I had a look at MAS21 library and examples for this task. I would use the TC65 because I own this modem, and after all I think is a good product (GPRS, Java engine onboard etc) and..it's a Siemens It's a bit strange (for me) that Siemensbuild upa lib using this modem for Teleservice & SMS signaling (SET5)and I can't use the modem I bought for my future needs (GPRS data exchange) even if the modem is a GPRS ones... Suggestion to deal with gprs data exchange (examples etc) are obviously welcome Epg

The MD720-3 was release long before the TC65 Terminal. I know its a little bit confusing, that you can use MAS5/21 with MD720-3 but only MAS5 with TC65Terminal. From this point of view the last suggestion: Buy the MD720-3! We can try to make it together but Writing your own PLC Image, Your own freeportcom. with handshake and confirmation, your own GPRS login routine, your own TCP/IP stack, your own VPN-channel , etc. ist VERY difficult (and this is only the Remote Station side) regards Lif
