MMC Write Limitations

When storing DBs to the MMC with an S7-300 or S7-1500 PLC I know that I need to be aware of the write limitations of flash memory.
The write limitation for the MMCs for S7-1500 are 500,000 write operations according to the data sheet online.
My question is what constitutes a write operation?
If I have 1000 variable that I write to a DB on an MMC does that constitute 1000 writes?
Does each call of the function that writes to the DB on the MMC constitute a write?
Or is this a more abstract limit that involves functions that the MMCs driver handles such as wear leveling?

I think this could help you. How long is the service life of a 32 GB memory card with the S7-1500 when the minimum number of delete/write procedures is 50,000? Regards, Towome
