Motor Rotation start stop on limit switch

Hi All,

I’m newbie in this filed.

I have an issue with a project. Actually I’m trying to fix a machine in the glass industry.

My problem is this:

We have a DC motor with a bridge rectifier and voltage regulator.

The motor is meant to rotate a table 360⁰

The start and stop of the table is on a limit switch for rotating left. Same goes for right rotation.

The command of starting the table comes from a push button.

I have tried different ways of doing it but it didn’t seem to work it out.

Would anyone have the kindness of transposing the above on a program?

Having this as a start I hope that I can finish up the whole project as it would still have the up/down commands etc.

Unfortunately the circuit diagram is incomplete.You have to give more information.

How exactly would the motor be controlled with clockwise / counterclockwise rotation and up / down?

How are the ends laid out and arranged?

Do you only use one rotary switch for rotation?

How does the safety circuit intervene? Or is that a dead man's control?

Your program is more than incomplete and not documented.Hardly anyone will be able to help you there!

But maybe it will help you further if you take a look at some simple gate controls.You can certainly pick up a few ideas for your project there.

You should describe more before they can help you.

I do have the whole project (electric design)

Rotation of the motor left /right is controlled from the push button + one selector switch that changes the polarity of the motor through a contactor. The motor is a geared motor and when started it rotates the table through the gear.

The up/down function is done with a compressed air actuator. The machine uses one limit switch for the up position of the table. The up/down movement is made by pressing a push button just like for the rotation of the table.

The push buttons for both table rotation & up/down are foot operated.

On the control panel we have the following switches:

1. Table rotation left/right
2. Table up/down
3. Main switch

In order for the motor to start moving either left or right the following conditions need to be validated:

• the up/down switch should be in the right position as the table
• the rotation switch should be either left or right as required by the user

The machine do not have any safety switch.

There are differences between the circuit diagram and the Logo base program. In the circuit diagram a knob switch is connected to I1, in the program is a comment "Foot switch on".

Two limit switches are connected to I5 an I6, but not directly, they are switched with no and nc contacts of K1, why ?

Limit switches normally are nc contacts for wire break safety, you use no contacts ?

It would make sense to offer the complete circuit diagram for better help and a complete description of all conditions on how to use the different functions. There is no need to write a long text, but a short listing, which outputs (Q1-Q4) should be on depend on which inputs (I1-I8).

As i can see, the comments of the circuit diagram are in german. There is also a german Logo conference and the previous helpers are from germany.

Hi Scorp,

The reason that the switches are through a contactor is that they are used intermittent one for right rotation and the other one for left rotation. The K1 is used to change motor polarity for left/right rotation.

The limit switches are NO contacts

Unfortunately I do not speak German at all.
