With the web server from firmware version V2.9, you can use the ticket mechanism of the Web API. The ticket mechanism allows you to transfer large amounts of data outside of the JSON-RPC protocol. The ticket mechanism is the basis for all new file-based methods, such as file upload/download of resources.

User-loadable web applications of the Web API:

• User-loadable web applications additionally provide you with a set of methods for managing web applications via Web API.
• Within the web applications, you can use all available web API methods.

As of firmware version V2.9, user-loadable web applications offer you the following important advantages over the previous option of providing user pages via the system function SFC 99 in STEP 7:

Only the TIA Portal project in the SIMATIC.S7S directory on the SIMATIC Memory Card changes. Your TIA Portal project is extended to include the storage of resources (e.g. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.) within the project, but outside the data blocks of the user program.The resources are each stored in the associated web application. Via the Web API, you can load the resources onto your PC, edit them and load them back onto the CPU. This procedure leads to significantly reduced development times on the user side. You can access and update resources independently of the operating state of the CPU (e.g. RUN, STOP). Web applications are also available in the STOP operating state of the CPU.

Creating user pages with TIA Portal WinCC Unified from version V17:

• Creating and loading user pages with WinCC Unified for SIMATIC S7-1500 CPUs offers the following advantages over creating them with any HTML editor:

- No HTML code knowledge necessary

- You can make changes to the user pages in the RUN operating state of the CPU.
