Vijay Silver Member Joined: 3/17/2013 Last visit: 8/25/2024 Posts: 481 Rating: (43)	Hi experts, I have a spare MMC for S7 300 PLC as detailed below SIMATIC S7 Micro Memory Card F.S7-300 CPU 3.3 V, NFLASH, 128 Kbytes Part No. : 6ES7953-8LG11-0AA0 and I wish to have save backup of the PLC on it. How to take it? Is the procedure below correct or any other steps missing? 1. Remove the running MMC in PLC stop mode ( I assume no power off required for CPU) 2. Insert spare MMC in the slot and download program earlier stored on PC I don't have field PG and flash/MMC card reader Thanks in advance Vijay

Rudrani Posts: 163 Rating: (4)	Hi Vijay, You can use the option "Download user program to memory card" in simatic manager. This will delete the previous contents of memory card and write the user program. and when u use "load" option, this loads the selected blocks to load memory(ie Memory card) and run time relevant data will be transferred to work memory of CPU. Pls remember, do not remove memory card during run mode. Regards, Rudrani

Hello, It's about write actions to the MMC you must avoid, putting PLC in Stop is just one option to prevent write actions. 2nd one is remove the programming cable. Regards, Marcjan

But still some doubts I couldn't see LOAD option under PLC header. Just my aim is to have backup of running MMC in a spare MMC. So Download User program to MMC is enough or not What's the diff. between Download User Pgm to MMC and Save to MMC. In case of my requirement to use this spare MMC after few months or so, I can keep this MMC in CPU slot (in STOP mode) then shall I go for Retrieve from MMC or CPU detects this new backup MMC and autoinitiates the process Thanking you Regards, Vijay

vipz Gold Member Joined: 9/2/2012 Last visit: 8/15/2024 Posts: 711 Rating: (30)	Hai, if you are using download to memory card option, content in the memory card will get deleted and program will get store into that. only that downloaded program will be inside. all other old entries will not be there. you can keep somewhere as a spare mmc for this machine. say, if you are using this mmc for other cpu ( downloaded program of cpu 315 say, later putting on cpuu 314 say. then cpu will ask for memory reset, do normal mres, it will erase the mmc fully. save to mmc is -- you can save some additional files also in to your mmc. may be some project related datas.

Is memory reset delete MMC in this case? What is the difference between this case and normal memory reset for the CPU containsits MMC? Is thisalso apply for MC?

What is the difference between this case and normal memory reset for the CPU containsits MMC? Normal mres clears markers, timers etc. when done with mmc in wrong PLCtype it clears mmc. [Quote] Is thisalso apply for MC? No memorycard can only be erased with Step7 command. How do you reset a SIMATIC S7-300 CPU and MMC (default reset or overall reset)? Regards, Marcjan
