one pushbutton dimming, long press dimming Dali/PXC3/Pl-Link

Dear professionals

Normally the dimming feature in the Lighting Application on a PXC3 takes up two channels on a pushbutton. Custom cfc plan should make it possible to utilize a single pushbutton to implement dimming (e.g. long press dimming, short press switching).

Do you have a cfc plan example to implement into the LocalManualOperation CFC Chart?

Best would be a separate cfc plan represented as a block in the LocalManualOperation CFC Chart, to keep it as clean as possible for future programmers to come after one self.

If you stumbled upon a website explaining the different parts of the Lighting Application (LGT11) itself that would be much appreciated since its kind of hard to understand the thinking of the siemens basic application programmers and what is possible with all this. The help does i rudimemtary but only really high level.

You can change it to single button operation without changing any CFC.

Drag a normal UP220/31_2xDim into the segment, then:

1. Change the Device information for the channels to 2 inputs

2. Then change the functions to LDSB for all inputs

3. Then make sure each Pushbutton function is set to "Switching and dimming"

This gives you 4 inputs that will

Short press on/off toggle

Long press dim up down

All without changing any CFC.

You will also need to assign the push buttons to each LocManOp application function manually.

Thank you very much for your detailed explanation. Much appreciated you took the time. This worked perfectly with the UP 220D31.

However when I try this with the UP 221/3 (DELTA i-system, pushbutton, single) or the UP 285/3 (DELTA style) whenever choosing Type "LDSB" the second channel gets deactivated, since the dimming function uses 2 channels. This is of course also suggested in the libary as the name says "LgtBtnDev_UP221/3_1xDim".

That said I imagined a CFC chart distinguishing between rising edge for switching and button signal logner than x miliseconds for dimming with a SR FlipFlop to either dim down and then up next time held.

Of course this is beyond intended use by Siemens but as always some of us may have a hard time explaining the habitual animal why the new costly Siemens system can't accomplish what the 20 year old Dali something could do..

I'm currently trying to come up with a solution ready for implementation and will post it here after its finished but if someone more proficient has a solution in the meantime I am more than grateful to change my most propably clumsy approach.

I see what you mean - I have just tried it, and the library UP258 does not allow single-button dimming even though the UP258 datasheet says it does.

Do you have to use the UP258? Can you use a standard volt free contact pushbutton instead and combine it with a UP220?

Maybe something like the 5TD211? Catalog ET D1 2011 (rs-online.com)

Thank you for the mentioned opportunities. For ease of use during installation our policy limits me to the delta variations of pushbuttons.

But therefore I will have to reserve two buttons for dimming, it is what it is. But I'm sure this thread might help others encountering the same problem and who are not limited to those two types of buttons.

Tis could mean the PL-Link functionality does not include one button dimming. However the mentioned Desigo Documentation I couldn't find anywhere. Is that the help window of ABTPro?

Also programming via ETS are hieroglyphs for me to, what does ETS stand for?
