OP17 & Prosave

automatt Posts: 3 Rating: (1)	Hello, I have an OP17 panel where the display has been damaged, and have successfully managed to backup the system using Prosave. The replacement OP17 has exactly the same part number but different firmware (1.04 and 1.03 respectively). I receive the error "Backup version does not match". Do the firmware revisions of both units have to be the same as well as the part numbers? I wasn't sure if the firmware was downloaded when restoring. Thanks.

automatt Posts: 3 Rating: (1)	Hello Tweety, Thanks for the reply. I have tried what you said but still no joy. Initially the HMI displays "SIMATIC OP17 V1.03 READY FOR TRANSFER". I created a ProTool project and downloaded to the HMI. During the download the screen changes to "SIMATIC OP17 V1.04 E READY FOR TRANSFER". The project downloads fine (a single screen). If I then cycle the power while holding down the up and Esc key to enter transfer mode I then get "SIMATIC OP17 V1.03 READY FOR TRANSFER" again and my Prosave backup won't download "Backup version does not match the connected operating unit". The OP17 unit that the Prosave backup was made from displays "SIMATIC OP17 V1.04 READY FOR TRANSFER" when in transfer mode. Thanks for your help, Matt.

This was there response :- "I have been informed that the devices have different memory chips and a backup taken from one cannot be restored to the other unless these are of the same type. So you would not be able to backup from a version 1.03 and restore to a version 1.04 or visa versa. I hope this helps clarify." So it looks as if although they have the same part numbers, they have different hardware. My customer is now trying to source an OP17 with the 1.04 revision. Regards, Matt.

But I'm open to any further test Regards Giorgio Dear all I had the same problem. I used the SIEMENS stanard cable for transfering progrom from PC to OP17. 1. Connected PC and OP17, powered on. 2. From Basic Screen OP17, Pressed SYSTEM-->IF2-->Transfer-->Ready for Transfer. 3. Set all relative parameter on PC and started Restore. 4. Communication established and download was started 5. After finished downloading, the OP17 screed still stayed at "SIMATIC V1.04 Ready for transfer" Sometimes, OP17 will be restarted again by itself after finished transfering/downloading 6. Doesn't matter with "SIMATIC V1.04" or restarting, the finally running project is still the old project, not the project which was downloaded just now. I also tried overall reset----when switching on the power supply of the OP, press these three keys at the same time ESC+cursor >+cursor V. Unfortunately, not working. It means the running project is still the old one even the voerall rest function was carried out. Some friends can help me? Thanks!
