Here is my scenario I will be using one plc with 316 - 2dp and network it through profibus with 8 s7 200 plc and 1 pc. s7 300 plc...the 316 will serve as the master plc and the other is the slave......then ill connect an hmi to 316 via mpi and send and received data and instruction to my slave plc.... My question is ....Can i used profibus or it is better to use ethernet connection....? i know that each s7 200 requires communication module........Any better suggestion.......Its like making a small Scada system....

In this case you can use S7 communication. Here you can find information abouttransfer times of data communication in a PROFIBUS, PROFINET IO or Industrial Ethernet network. http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1651770 Maybe it helps you in you decision. My problem is i will used a 2 CP 343-1 lean for 2 s7 300 , and 8 CP 243-1 Im i going to to used a switch for this type of connection or ill gonna daisy chain its devices like in profibus....?????? Need to understand Thanks any help will be appreciated

I will have a master CPU a 317 2 DP and HMi which will gonna control 8( slave )s7 200 cpu which is individually run a certain machine.... I will used profibus for this set up and used EM 277 for each s7 200 cpu.......Is this possible or not......???????????????????????????????? or ill have to changed my communication protocol to ethernet???????????? Kindly help me out... Thanks.....

ivan_euler Posts: 54 Rating: (0)	my requirement is i need to monitor all the input and output of all the s7 200 connected by my master plc the s7 300.......Then send signal to each plc when to run,....depending on my sequence... Ill be using an HMI and create a recipe File to make a sequence for eacm mchine to run.....Ill have to monitor each machine status for me to proceed to the next steps...... Any help would be gladly appreciated

(S7-300 is master all S7-200 will be slaves.) In order to establish profibus connection you need EM277 module on each S7-200 system. But connection from S7-300 CPU to SCADA system to be made by ethernet connection. Best regards, Hristo Mihalev
