Please have a look at online help of Step7 and search for POINTER, then have a look at Format of the Parameter Type Pointer. Best regards, Wizard

Jesper Posts: 13 Rating: (1)	Hej all I what to "forwarding" the block IN-parameter of data type "Pointer" of the calling block to the IN-parameter of the called block. It works with elementary data type like bool, int. But I can't get it to work with the data type "Pointer". I think I have read some place that this should bee posible, but I can remember where. I can't figure out what I'am doing wrong, I get now errors form Step7, and when I download the code to the CPU It runs with out errors, but the shift function dosen't work. If I don't use the "forwarding", and just put P#DB4.DBX0.0 to the S_Bit parameter it works fine, but I want to make a function block that I can call many time with different parameter values.

EXAMPLE: FC1 and FC2 having IN parameter abc: ARRAY[0..9] OF BYTE FC1 // variable declaration INabc: ARRAY[0..9] OF BYTE; TEMP tempabc : ARRAY[0..9] OF BYTE; // code CALL SFC20 Source := abc retval := .... Dest := tempabc CALL FC2 abc := #tempabc If you don't like copying in to temp variable - you can use type ANY - code it, decode it, pass to another FC - whatever you like. As far as i remember POINTER is specific datatype, used mainly by S7 internally. I've never seen using it instead of ANY.
