Problems connecting to PLC in WinCC flexible

Gssc1414 Posts: 15 Rating: (1)	I am new to WinCC flexible and am having some problems getting it to communicate with the PLC from my programming device. The steps I have followed are: 1. I created a new WinCC flexible project. 2. I Integrated the WinCC project with my S7 program. 3. I went to "Connections" and added a new connection. 4. I set the HMI devices IP address to my programming computer (only WinCC flexible Pro is installed on this PC - no run-time version). 5. I set the PLC's IP address. (To check basic connectivity, I pinged the PLC and I got a response, so I know it's at least there). 6. I saved the project and hit the "generate" button. 7. I then went to "tags" and tried to configure a tag. When I do this, I can browse my symbol table like I would expect (seeing that it's integrated). 8. When I select the tag I want, the Output window at the bottom of the screen pops up and says: The connection to the PLC is not working (dont' have exact wording...but it was along those lines) The symbol is disabled for WinCC flexible or it exceeds the 64 Kb limit for a source! Any ideas? Suggestions? Like I said, I am new to WinCC flexible and really am not sure where to go from here....I was hoping there was a "test connection" function, but haven't been able to find anything resembling that. I have also tried setting up the connection with Profibus DP, with the same settings as my network, with no luck. Thanks in advance for all the help!

You can try to reconfigure connection. The best way is to delete old connection and close WinCC Flexible. Then in Step-7 open NetPro and configure connections there. Then you it must be automatically configured connection in Flexible too. Try again. If not post here at least versions of Step-7 and Flexible and also printscreen of error would be good.

Mikesidir Regular Member Joined: 3/17/2011 Last visit: 10/24/2022 Posts: 18 Rating: (1)	In my opinion Wincc Flex has a problem in integrating a PC (and some other devices maybe..) with a Step 7 Project. In the exact project where you had the problem if you change your Device Type from PC to lets say any Touch Panel , your connection would be "magically" restored. Because I have the same problem I am very interestead to know how tech support solved it...
