RKM Posts: 93 Rating: (13)	Dear KKDAS2012 , For analog input, there are protection devices available from different manufacturer. Selection depends upon many parameters like type of type of analog input of PLC module(current/voltege,2/4 wire signal),type of filed instrument analog outout, optical/galvanic isolation, incase 4-wire signal supply of field instruments, etc. For analog output, generally there is only current type if signal . so there are not much complex options available. I would sujjest to visit siemens process instrumentation web side to find the available option for the same, as there are convinient options available. For digital input/output,as a cost effective option relay cn be use between field and PLC module for isolation. However isolators like analog ones are also available for digital signals. Hope to have clear anser of your question.

RKM Posts: 93 Rating: (13)	Dear friends, Fused terminals only give protections from short-circuit. it does not isolate the panel and field sides. Your selection should also include criteria for isolation because someindustries like F&B,matels,pharma, automobiles, etc does not require isolation.so for them it is sufficient. Where as industries like O&G , chemical ,petrochemical, textile, water ,etc need isolation. Apart from previously mentioned manufacturer siemens , there are so many other like P&F,Eurotherm , etc and other so many local manufacturers sellsuch kind of protection and isolation devices. Normally we are using signal isolater to AI/AO protections and Fuse TB for DI/DO viral patel

Hi Fuse terminals with LED or Without LED,Field Interface Modules,Isolators Depending on the voltage Levels, Working Enviornment (Hazardous) it differs in selection Hope this helps

If you want proper protection & isolation of your PLC system from field side, then you should use isolator for DI/DO.AI/AO. . But for cost-effective & safe solution you may use Relay cards between your field & Digital modules. . and use isolators for Analog signals. .

PutoneDC Fuse (2Pole MCB)for all digital input cards in your panel as carrier and power distribution. (Most of DI cards no need to power supply-Only need 0V in pin M) 2. Putone fuse terminal with LED for each signalthat go to the field (these fuses are supplied by main fuse (Item No.1). (For protect +24VDC from short circuit to CE or PE (GND)); Also you can put another in return line (DI from field device) 3. Putone fuse terminal with LED for supply each common terminal block(Termination between PLC panel and MCC panel) 4. PutoneDC Fuse (2Pole MCB)for all digital output cards in your panel. 5. Putone fuse terminal with LED for supply each DO card. You can put fuse terminal for each group in a card. For example in 6ES7322-1BL00-0XB0 you need to four fuse. But I think it's not necessary and one fuse terminal is enough for each card) 6. If you need you can putone fuse terminal with LED for supply each common terminal Block (Termination between PLC panel and MCC panel) 7. According to above items you can put DC Fuses for AI and AO cards. 8. Put two fuse terminal without LED for each analog (AI or AO) channel. Isolation Device: 1. You can use electromechanical or solid-state relay modules (or equal) for provide isolation between field and DI cards. 2. You can use electromechanical relay modules (or equal) for provide isolation between MCC panels and DO cards. 3. And maybe you want to use isolated barrier for analog channels. At the end, don’t forget surge protection for power supply unit. Hope this helps, MRG
