Reading S7-1500's I or Q address data from Comfort Panel

Gabe Posts: 21 Rating: (2)	I have an s7-1500 (1516-3 PN/DP) and am trying to read data from %I or %Q addresses to a TP1900 Comfort Panel. I'm getting an error "Invalid data type for selected PLC". I can read the global memory addresses but not the ones mentioned above. Any ideas what is happening? I don't have this problem with an S7-1200 PLC. Thanks you Gabe Tosello

Gabe Posts: 21 Rating: (2)	I'm not sure what you mean. When I define a tag in the "Default tag table" of the Comfort Panel, the data type is predefined by the PLC configuration. Using "absolute access" or "symbolic access" as an Access mode gives me the same error. Regards, Gabe Tosello

Gabe Posts: 21 Rating: (2)	Well, here's what I did today. I thought there might have been some corruption in the S7 file that affected the PLC data types. So I created a whole new simplified project, added theIO modules, and named all the tagsbut did not have any ladder logic. Tried to connect to a PLC tag via the HMI and got the same datatype error as previous. So this simplified version of the S7 configuration had the same problem. But ... I went back to the PLC and toogled (re-selected and manually set the datatypes) the INT and BOOL PLC datatypes (%IW and%Q) and the datatype error in the HMI had disappeared. There is something in STEP 7 and that particular PLC that does not configure the datatype properly. Gabe Tosello

pz1974 Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	I had the same issue with "Invalid data type for selected PLC" The cause of the problem was a wrong Connection which was set to the tag in HMI Tags default tag table. The Connection was changed somehow after removing HMI and adding it again in Devices&networks.
