Hi I built a Laser system built around a CPU 1212C. It was fully functionally tested in our factory and then dispatched to America. When our customer tried to use the laser there was problems. I did some diagnostics via Teamviewer which gave me some suspicions so got him to send a photo of the PLC and on receipt my fears were realised, the Red Error LED was flashing and no other LEDs on the PLC or expansion module (SM 1223) were lit Is it possible that when it went through American customs that it wiped the PLC with the X-ray scanner? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

Sorry, should of said that the 24vdc PSU powering the PLC will work down to 100vac I have attached a short video of the problem AttachmentVideo.mov (160 Downloads) |

When you tested, did you test with 50 Hz / 230VAC 1ph / 400 VAC 3ph, or did you test with the same voltage / frequency your American customer uses? Is there a Siemens HMI connected to the PLC? If so, did you include the diagnostics buffer screens provided with Portal so your customer could review the information available in there that tells you what is wrong? Does the PLC have any profinet / profibus communications? Is the s7-1212 DC/DC/DC, or AC/DC/DC, or something else? What did you discover via teamviewer to check the PLC diagnostics buffer for the reason for the red error LED?

There is no power on the module! PLC may give the error because of not founding of module. Can you check the module connection to PLC. It seems seperated a little bit from Cpu. |

Hi There is no HMI or Profinet coms The PLC is a CPU 1212C - DC/DC/RLY When on Teamviewer I found the colour combination of the LEDs on the front panel of the laser system wasn't in a sequence that I had programmed, the sequence only happens with no programme in it

Hi Great observation, I hadn't spotted that :( Been doing some simulation tests here and I think you've cracked it as I can now reproduce the fault It looks like the PLC and expansion module shook apart slightly in transit
