Hi doggalli, If you are starting a new project with V7.1 SP2, I would strongly recommend using the APL. For as of V8.0 and up that is the library to use as the 'Standard Library' will not be continued to be updated for versioning. If your not starting a new project, and you are just working on a project some one started to work on, I would check the Master Data Library to see what blocks were supposed to be used for valves. But if your question is, I have a valve, what type of valve block should I use...? Please describe what type of valve it is, discrete (open/close, with Feedbacks), analog valve...etc I would strongly recommend reading through the APL document (Yes, it is very long 1872 pages) but it does go into detail about each type of block used in the library.. you can download the manual here,http://support.automation.siemens.com/US/view/en/48034370 |

Hello doggalli, Here is the link for the Standard Blocks Manual describes how they function and other technical details about the inputs/outputs of the blocks...http://support.automation.siemens.com/US/view/en/36201733 As for how they get wired together, the library on your ES not only comes with the blocks, but also comes with Templates that show examples of how these devices can be wired together for you. If you have not worked with PCS 7 before, or this library I would encourage you to start there with the templates. Also, if you are new(er) to PCS 7 I also strongly suggest reading through the PCS 7 Compendium Set, but concentrating on part A. Compendium A walks you through the standard setup of a PCS 7 project from A-> Z. http://support.automation.siemens.com/US/view/en/35016996 goodluck!

Start by learning about CFC programming language. If you dont know how to use a valve and interconnect, then you definitly should look into this. then start with documents on pcs7: Getting started and start by using the example project: color_gs which is also detailed in the document |
