RFID Newbie

Hi,

I am working on an RFID project and require some assistance configuring the setup.

I am using the following:

TIA V13 SP1 Update 4, Step 7 Professional V13 SP1 Update 4, WinCC Basic V13 SP1 Update 4.

1211C (6ES7 211-1BE40-0XB0) Version 4

RF120C Communication module.

RF240R Read/Writer.

I have inserted the CPU and the communication modules onto my project and have configured the RF120C.

I have inserted the program blocks; Write_DB, Read_DB and Reset_Reader_DB.

Now I am stuck as where to go from here to get them to communicate. 

How do I program the Hardware Identifier?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi,

here is a basic instruction for communicating with the reader via RF120C communication module:

Configure your HW:
-Insert your CPU in HW config
-Attach your RF120C to your CPU
-Set the option for your reader in the RF120C inspection window (For your RF240 reader) at "Parameters":
Reader system: RF200 general
All other settings should be set to the default generated from the system, which is fine for your setup

Insert the blocks you need:
-Reset_Reader (Must have: Before you read or write you have to reset the connected reader; Resetting the reader transmits the options you have set in the HW config for the RF120C)
-Read (for reading transponder)
-Write (for writing transponder)

Create your connection DB:
-Create a normal DB
-Open that DB
-Create a new variable of the type "IID_HW_CONNECT" (This data type is available once you inserted a identification block, e.g. Reset_Reader)
-In the new created variable there is a field called HW_ID. Insert the HW identifier of your RF120C module here (You can find the HW ID number generated by the system if you click on your RF120C in HW config. The field is called "Hardware identifier")

Call your blocks in OB1 or another FB (which is called in an OB):
-Call the blocks.
-All ident blocks should have the input parameter "HW_CONNECT". Link the variable you created in your connection DB to this input so the blocks know where to send their instruction to (to the RF120C).
-Now you can EXECUTE your Reset_Reader
-Afterwards you can EXECUTE your Read or Write blocks
-Always check DONE, BUSY, ERROR, STATUS output parameters of the ident blocks to know if they worked or not.
-NOTE: Don't use the input parameter "EN" at the blocks because those blocks sometimes need more program cycles to finish operation. Just operate the blocks using the input parameter "EXECUTE".

 Its really simple to configure first just configure the right GSD file with right firmwire , use Mobby DB to configure , here is the attachment i have given, Once you configure and download the reader will show yellow light blinking then it will turn from red to green , use fb 45, here is the link it will help

I'm not sure if it's possible to use FB45 with S7-1200 and RF120C.
In my opinion the "ident instructions" are the easiest solution and current state of the art.

Just my 2 cents.
