Hello Pratapks; First, from Siemens side, there is an Application tool called "S5 migration Tools" that you can locate here: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/27227021 There you will find a section on S5 Spare parts, with some links to spare part location finders in different forms and uses. I have found the Spares On Web service useful in the past, it will show you individual part numbers availability and status. You can also send the individual informations to an Excel sheet so you can build you ownworksheet for available spares.Another source can be found by searching for "S5 spare parts" on the web. There are many providers of such services. However, pricing and warranty issues have to be taken into account when dealing with 3rd-party providers. We have had very good experiences in the past, and some remarquably bad ones in the process of purchasing spare parts on the Internet.
Wow, this is Christmas morning for you! and each package a surprise! I I can think of no other way to find out if these equipments have survived 10 years of Indian outdoor weather without damage than by testing each one in a test rack, with a test program. Siemens industrial equipment is known to be tough, but there are environmental limits that must be respected for storage; humidity and noxious atmospheres (possible in an industrial area) can do the most damage. How well sealed were the containers, and how were the units packaged inside? Any sign of moisture or accumulated salts on the cardboard boxes, on the units themselves? Depending on your personnel availability and the price you can put on the tester's time, it could be worth the effort to get a whole new lot of original spares. But again, equipment warranty is probably dead by now, and the risk shopuld be evaluated by your plant managers, Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
