s7-1200 firmware update

Hi Everyone 

in TIA portal V13, when selecting 1215c (dc/dc/rly 6ES7 215-1BG40-0XB0) the firmware version is V4.0 and v4.1

in TIA portal V17, when selecting 1215c (dc/dc/DC 6ES7 215-1AG40-0XB0) the firmware version is V4.0 to  v4.5

is that mean if i buy this CPU i will get firmware versions  from v4.0 to v4.5 (no V3.x or lower) and can be programed by the tia v 13 or v17 without problems

If you buy this CPU now, you may get it with the latest released firmware version (V4.5).

For the dependency on the software and firmware version, I recommend you check the following link.

As you will be able to see, the firmware version V4.5 is only configurable in TIA V17.

However, if you have a lower version of TIA, you should be able to configure the maximum firmware version selectable and download the project to the CPU with this version. The only thing that will appear is a warning that there are online/offline differences.

The S7-1200 with firmware V3.0 can still be programmed with Step7 V17. The part number looks different. You will notice that each CPU type has 3 part numbers. Ordering the part that has '40' in the part number gives you the CPU that has firmware V4.x. The x currently is 0 to 5, but that could change to more numbers.  

Even if you have a CPU with firmware V4.5, you can still use it in Step7 V13. You configure the CPU as if it is V4.1. The software will complain with a warning which you can safely ignore.
