S7-1200 Profibus communicaion

Is there a module in S7-1200 like ET200 in order to connect another rack through Profibus communication ?!! Simply ... Do you have an example Image for Profibus communication in S7-1200 ?!! Regards,

Regards, Hello GOG, Yes, S7-1200 supports PROFIBUS DP communication. You can use S7-1200 both as PROFIBUS DP Master (using CP1243-5) and / or PROFIBUS DP Slave (using CP 1242-5). I want to connect S7-1200 CPU with CM1243-5 (Master) to the following profibus network: 1- ET200 M with 32DI, 32DO (Slave) 2- ET200 M with 16DI, 16DO, 8AI (Slave) 3- ET200 M with 64DI, 32DO, 8AI, 8AO (Slave) so, could you help me with the suitable S7-1200 CPU for that hardware system. regards,

Hello GOG, You are welcome Ideally the CM1243-5 is going to take care of the PROFIBUS communication without involving more of the CPU. So any CPU can do and i suggest you choose the CPU based on your * Central IO requirement * Work Memory / Load Memory requirement * Type of on-board IO (either DC/DC/DC or AC/DC/Relay or DC/DC/Relay) * requirement on Future expansion of Central IO You can make use of the Online SIMATIC Selection tool to configure your system (shall provide the link in some time as the site is down for maintenance activity)

Never used Profibus....a few silly questions: 1.Should i treat Profibus just as if i add more slots with I/Os? 2.What should be configured in HD config.when using Profibus as a remote I/O. Thanks.

Hello Dob, 1. PROFIBUS DP Master is one of the Communication Module not a signal module (I/O module). [every CPU supports max of 3 Communication Modules, which is placed in the Left side of the CPU] 2. In Hardware Confoguration of STEP 7 v11, you have to follow this - Configuring a DP master and slave device Additionally if you are completely new to S7-1200 / it's communication this Easy Book manual should help - SIMATIC S7-1200 Easy Book (dowloadable pdf) / SIMATIC S7-1200 Easy Book (online version)
