S7-1200F CPU with safety I/O

Hi!

I'm new to failsafe programming.

I saw that there are new S7-1200 safety CPUs and I was wondering that maybe I could replace our safety relays by using one of these PLCs. Most of the time we use a basic safety relay for E-STOP and another, programamble relay for safety light curtains, doors, two-hand etc.

There will not be safety IOs at the central CPU. You always need extended safety modules. 
The idea is, that you easily be able to change your existing standard CPU against a safety CPU without change your standard-code and addresses. Then you expand your configuration with the safety part.

We did not do a price check yet, but I'm afraid that if we have to buy a separate F-DI and another F-DO besides the F-CPU, the price difference between the safety relays and the F-system would be too high.

Is there an application example with an S71200F and TIA V13 SP1?

It is still the same. There is no S7-1200 with integrated F-IO´s. To use Failsafe-functionality you need to buy CPU and F-DI/DO-modules.

As a warning it might be handy to know that the 1200F currently does NOT support remote safety IO !

So only local safety IO is supported.
