S7 300 and Remote I/O over Wireless

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, I hope you are aware of the fact that IEEE 802.11 networks usually work just a view ... maybe 100 or 200 m. So if you want toreach such distances you will have to use directional antennas and you will have to use Access points to boost the signal in between. How this works with PROFINET IO is not sure either... ... is it really impossible to use a Fiber optical connection in between? Best regards J_Bell

mes700001 Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Take a look at the DATAEAGLE stuff. It is plug and play and we did not see any BUS errors. We connected our ET200M over a 2KM link working in 900MHz w/ LOS. They also have 2.4GHz and other freq. We worked with a company called M2M-Dynamics who installed it. http://www.m2m-dynamics.com/?page_id=519 We are also talking with them about a GSM/GPRS solution.
