S7-300 PLC S7-315-2PN/DP (6ES7315-2EH14-0AB0) supports only 4 rack and 8 slot modules

Chandra Tiwari Posts: 247 Rating: (2)	Hi, I have 6ES7315-2EH14-0AB0 S7-300 PLC with the following configuration for Rack-1 (CPU Rack) without PSU: CPU+Ethernet Card+Profibus Card+Modbus Card Now, with CPU i am connecting IM-153-2 module (6ES7153-2BA02-0XB0) so my Rack-2 configuration is like: IM-153-2 +DI-32card+DI-32card+...upto9 DI-32 Cards (We have 11 slots in which 2 slots used by IM module and rest 9 from DI-32 channel card. I am not using any power supply unit. is this configuration going to be work, please reply. Thanks in advance :)

Marcjan Platinum Expert Joined: 4/22/2010 Last visit: 12/15/2022 Posts: 5697 Rating: (709)	Hello, The data is about the maximum modules you can connect to the CPU with or without extention racks, when you use an ET 200 then you have to read the dataof that module, yours can handle 12 modules. Simple way to find out if it will work is to create a hardware config with all the stuff you want to use, if you can save and compile it will work. Regards, Marcjan

My questions is that, will this CPU supports 12 Card DI with IM-153-2 module, in the CPU datasheet it is mentioned that it will support only 4 rack and 8 slot modules. i am not sure 8 slots in the CPU rack itself or in any IM rack slot. please clarify. Hello, it is possibel to connect 12 Modules with above ET200M. you can connect any type of signal modules with IM153-2 upto a limit of 12. You can check it by your self. Just Create a New Project & go to hardware Configuration. you will be able to see number of slots available with Particular IM. I hope you have a software available with you.

If you are using IM153-1, then maximum modules per rack is 8 If you are using IM153-2HF, then maximum modules per rack is 12 If you are using ET200S IM (HF), then maximum modules per rack is 63 including IM and Power modules. And may be you are using a third party IO modules, so you have to go through data sheet of IM you want to use. So, this info can not be written in the CPU data sheet except for central application. Hope this helps.
