In the FAQ What are the special features of input/output addressing with the DP/DP coupler?you may find some extra information about the old and new DP/DP-coupler.

For the programming it are two slaves that are independent are pprogrammed by the two masters. Different Baudrates are possible and also the possibility to "see" on the other side if the data is actual or that the other master not updating the data. The easiest way is to program on one side the outputs and on the other side the inputs and first look if that is working. With the dipswitches you may choose for the address and also if the first byte is used as statusbyte.

{unfortunily I work with IE7 and on this forum then the smiley's won't work, further I like IE7 because there are a lot of TABs to use simultanously and wenn starting again the screens are all opened}.
