s7 400 load ram memory problem

eng_samp Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	i have problem at s7 400 station ,as the load ram memory is 100% complete , so i cant download any new networks to the program , i read about the problem but useless, although their is external 1 MB flash memory are installed to cpu , but i cant access it to download program to it, could you help me to solve this problem , how could i use the external memory to solve this problem

vipz Gold Member Joined: 9/2/2012 Last visit: 8/15/2024 Posts: 711 Rating: (30)	Hai, to download in to FLASH card, you have to use "download user program to memory card" option. click on blocks-under plc ->"download user program to memory card". CPU will switch in to stop mode during download(even for program block also)

Regards, Marcjan Dear Marcjan, so does it mean that we cant use Flash card to extend the CPU memory capacity?Because i guess the integrated memory in a cpu is anyhow a RAM and not a Flash? So extending it can be done either using an External RAM or Flash right?(based on the requirement) or did you mean somethingelse by saying so? actually this made me stuck as well

Work memory wich can't be extended. Load memory that can be extended by using both Ram or Flash. The Ram needs backup power from battery. External Ram can be used for storing more program and data blocks in the load memory directly. Flash, same thing but needs to be loaded with the command download to memorycard. Both programblocks and datablocks relevant for execution are loaded from load to Work memory at startup of the CPU. If the work memory is to small to load all the blocks you need other CPU with bigger work memory. However if the size off the datablocks is the reason for short off work memory you can use the option Unlinked in the datablock properties to win some space. In my opinion it's better to get a CPU with more Work memory if you are running on the edge. Regards, Marcjan

I think he is trying to use normal download. then it will go to internal load memory ( offf course its RAM ). If he use download to memory card option, he will be able to download the program. ( let him come back with what method he is using for download)

The work memory must be checked too, you can extend the load memory but if the program does not fit into the work memory, the Ram/flash card does not help there, only then you must replace the CPU or do some tricks to reduce the used work memory. You are right about the methode of downloading to PLC/card. Regards, Marcjan
