Wow! Quite a question there, mani. Where to begin: size, power, speed, memory, backplane, communication connections, redundancy, price,...? too many variables . Both are modular PLCs, but the S7-300 is considered a mid-range unit, and the S7-400 is high-end: more powerful in all areas (although the most powerful S7-300s are quite nearthe performance levels ofthe lowest S7-400s). Both are programmed with Step 7, both have the same program structure, the same networks, the same available function modules. Only the S7-400 offer true hotbackup redundancy. So giving a simple answer will be difficult. Start by looking at the following Siemens Controllers portal; there are links to all the S7 families (S7-200, S7-300, S7-400 and C7) that you can study and have a first perception of the full differences. https://www.automation.siemens.com/simatic/portal/html_76/product-navigation-controller.htm Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Darius, I could not find any document from Siemens stating communication speed comarison from S7-300 to S7400. I have heared people talk about K-bus. |
