Hi Martin.

Congratulations for getting an interview with Siemens.

There are many articles on the web on how to "survive" an interview. These are better suited to your needs. Please do not focus your energy on impressing the interviewers with your knowledge. Let your energy flow unhindered.. be yourself.

The interviewer evaluates what your potential (able to learn new things) is and if you will fit into the culture of the company (team work, working in a structured environment, ..).  It has more to do with the human side and the technical know-how in many cases. Assist him/her in this task by being your true self. This strategy will help you too - if you do not fit well into the company, then you will be an unhappy employee.

Make sure you know something about the company/office before you go for the interview. Also be ready to ask THEM questions. Something that you really want to know and highlights your interest in the company. Asking about working hours and salary are not good questions.

Better to ask about how many people is in the department you are going to work with and if you may have the opportunity for intensive training in Germany. If you do not know the S7-1200 / S7-1500 that is a minus - but if you show interest and eagerness to learn, you should be fine.

Many year ago I was asked to an interview with Siemens. I was not chosen for the bursary/job. I was very upset about that, back then. But thereafter I was sponsored and employed by my current employer. I know now that the Siemens corporate life would have "killed" me back then.

Sometimes other opportunities come your way that suits you better.

My experience with is that people are far more interested in your accomplishements (what projects have you worked on, what did you contribute) than asking about individual coding skills.

Way back when I worked for Siemens, it was much easier.  I was doing the same thing at GE (drive systems, PLC's), my new boss was my former boss at GE and I know other people that worked there.

My interview was essentially "when can you start and how much money do you want".  Hope yours is as easy.
