Siemens Simotion Diagnostics

I have Simotion Scout TIA v5.3 and TIA V15.1 installed on a 64 bit Win 10 VM, I have also had this problem on a Win 7 64 bit VM and also when installed directly on the laptop main drive.

I have 32gb RAM installed and a SSD hard drive.

In the Motion Control Chart editor opening, or trying to add, a program object gives the error "Siemens Simotion Diagnostics - The application has encountered a problem and needs to close."

I can run the same project in TIA V14 and Scout 5.1 with no issues.

The first time the error appears after install it says there is an Visual C++ runtime error with

c:\Program Files\Siemens\Automation\Portal V15_1\ScoutTIA_Addon\bin\u7wpefax.exe

but after this the diagnostic error appears. This pretty much makes TIA V15.1 unusable for this project. Has anyone had a similar problem?

I thought there was something related to the code but if you can read out the same code with the previous release my suppose was wrong.

Can you open up a case with Siemens?

Will have to try Siemens.

Might try and create a new program with a MCC in it to see if it is a migration issue.

can you try to get online with another interface (Profibus-MPI interface for instance)? This is valid only if you have a USB-MPI adapter off course...

I'm afraid of this issue next year I'm obliged to migrate W10 because W7 will be no more supported...

Am not in a position to go online as I need to rewrite the current program to fir the new machine which has several more axis.

If I can't edit it then it is pointless trying to stick with 15.1

It also gives the same problem on Win 7 X64 so I am guessing it is a TIA issue and not the OS.

I have no issue at all on my VM Tia 15.1 UPD3 + Scout 5.3.1.0 W7-64 Ultimate. Just a simple question: can you watch online a unit running as background task instead of Motion task ?

I may suggest you to sort out of any doubt with a brand new VM and reinstall TIA + Scout.

Cannot install TIA v5.2 as this is only for TIA v15, am installing Scout 5.3 SA now.

Thanks for every ones help.

Installing Scout v5.3 stand alone did the trick.

Must be something to do with the version as I didn't have to do this in TIA V14 with Scout TIA v5.1.
