Siemens Software with MacBook Pro

HI,

I am interesting to get a new MacBook Pro (for the first time) and using VMWare Workstation Pro to run Windows7 64 bits.

Siemens software that I will use under VMWare Workstation Pro with Windows7 will be:

-Step7 Prof. V5.5

-WinCC Flexible 2008 Advanced

-Portal Step7 V13

-Portal WinCC Professional

Communication will be MPI/USB adapter and Ethernet for communication.

Any recommendation or suggestion?

Split from MacBook Software.

I do not have any experiense on running WM Ware on MAC. I am running VM Ware Workstation V10 on a Windows.

In the VM Ware im running Win 7 64 bit and Step 7 Proff, WinCC Flex 2008 SP3, TIA Portal V13 SP1.

I use a seperate usb adaptor for IE,  I dont have any problems running on VM Ware

Hi there,  I own a MacbookPro 13 with MacOS X installed,  i have Simatic Softwares running seamlessly on it, plus connection and communication to devices  via USB MPI/PPI cables working fine,  i used Parallel Desktops to install windows on it.  And im running softwares on it no troubles., so its very possible.  I adviceu use Parallels desktop as u might have issues trying to make VMware route the usb cable to the windows OS installed instead of the macOS.

On parallels desktops once any usb device is plugged in when both os are active a pop up is displayed to ask where u wud want to run the plugged in device.  Makes it all easy.

Mac makes sense

Four years ago my employer bought me a 15" Retina MacBook Pro with a 750GB SSD and 16GB Ram (lucky me). I'm still using this great machine for al my programming and with all the latests software and OS versions. It is still very fast without any struggles.

So firstly I recommend you: DON'T SAVE ON SSD AND RAM! You will need this if you're going to use your VM's. Many times I'm running Mac OSX together with 2 Windows VM's.

Second, I started with VMWare, but it was a pain in the ass with communication to Siemens hardware. For 3 years I'm using Parallels and for me it's the most ideal VM for the Mac. Communication to Siemens goes flawless. You even can split your ethernet so your VM is connected to the PLC domain and OSX is connected to your main router to use it to connect to the internet.

Third, I recommend to separate your Simatic software over several VM's. So one VM for Step7 5.5 and WinCC Flex, another VM for TIA and one VM for migration from Step7 5.5 to TIA. 

For sure VMWare isn't the same nowadays like it was 3 years ago. For me I don't see a reason to leave Parallels.

Parallels Desktop

or

Parallels Pro Edition

or

Parallels Business Edition 

The Parallels Desktop edition is it enough to run Siemens software and communication?

Just the normal Parallels Desktop. 

Just wait a moment with purchasing it. V12 will soon be available for new users. This will safe you some money with upgrading from 11 to 12.

im too have mac book pro and set windows 10 in my mac 

bout i think better you used of software TIA PORTAL V14 or V15

until of step 7 v5.5
