SIMATIC IT V6 and Win CC V5

djamo33 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hello Does anybody know if the version of SIMATIC IT V6 supports WinCC V5 for data collection or if it is recommanded. I heard that WinCC V5 does not have any OPC Server included. Thank you

Sorry, butI'm not specialist in SIMATIC IT, but you can use the OPC Server in the WinCC V5, it is only necessary you install the OPC server that comes with WinCC.

djamo33 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Thank you for your help. I want to connect them because I want to historize data values in Simatic IT Historian or trigger process defined in simatic it. But what I heard is that there is no opc server that comes with WinCC v5 (I am no a specialist of wincc, I can't check that), and I need to upgrade to V6. So the only possibility was to use a tool call RTDS (Real time data server) to collect data. Best regards,

Well, as I said previously, I'm notspecialist in Simatic IT, but in the this picture, andbased in theinformation in the manual of Simatic IT, the communication between RTDS and Process Values of WinCC is based on OPC DA, and Wincc is compatible with OPC DA 2.0. Now, the historical data of WinCC is sent to Simatic Historian by OPC HDA, and until I know, the WinCC 5x haven't the implementation of OPC HDA. They are used to transfer Data inbetween different WinCC Stations if required. You can monitor any Tags that are configured on the Station, as far as I heared. If you want to access the historical Datainformation you will have to add a Tool called HDA but don't ask me anything about it... I also just heard about it. Maybe you post some questions in the SIMATIC HMI Forum. Best regards J_Bell

We face allot of difficulties in the comissioning of this Simatic IT Historian. There are some serious performance issues on the report manager side. Also the engineering time of adding PCS7 tags and making them archive in desired classes is worst! Can anyone suggest some other products which has the strength of customised reporting? Right nowweare makingour own application using DTS packaging. Please dont suggest storagePlus. Can I download IDB trial version from any where? Thanks!

Best regards J_Bell Hi J_Bell, I was with doubts if WinCC 5.X has HDA, andthe support of Siemens it confirmed, he doesn't have HDA, the WinCC5.X only has DA. Maybe, the solution that Nemo posted, can be a alternative.

Hi Raheel, If your problem is the generation of customised reports, you can to try the use of Crystal Reports. In older projects, where was necessary complex reports, we used the Crystal Reports with connectivity pack and we had a good performance in the design and generation of reports, but we usedthis solution with Step 7 and WinCC 6.X, not PCS7 with Simatic Historian. I really, don't know if you can use this solution. In my vision, it's totally possible.

But the referesh rate of the reports is like 20 minutes for 12 Tag values. I am attaching the report, if anyone can find a problem in it.
