Slow remote Logon

I am facing the problem with delayed logon..

Clicking on login button opens Simatic Logon and accepts the login details but it does not display the logged user immediately. It takes almost 30 - 40 seconds to update the user name and then allows the access as per defined access levels.

Has anyone solved this problem??

You can experience slow login in Windows7.

You can read about it in the readme file og Flexible ("Special Features with Windows 7").

It mentions some files on the dvd in the \Support\Windows7 directory.

I have not solved the problem yet, but when our IT department changed the domain the answer is much better, now we have response time in about 5 seconds instead of 30 before. So at the moment we are satisfied with Logon.

I am posting to help anybody out there who is experience similar issues.

My facility is running PCS7 9.0 SP1 with SIMATIC Logon V1.6, with two OS servers and 15 clients. I was contacted by operations that the HMIs were very slow. Working with a production lead we walked up to a WinCC entered user information into the SIMATIC prompt. It took about 15 minutes before the user was logged on. Once the user was logged on the WinCC client functioned normally. 

I contacted Siemens support and they stated that most likely culprit was slow authentication and to look into the AD (Active Directory) server. I spoke to the IT team and found out we have two redundant ADs. I executed the following command on the WinCC client "echo %logonserver" in cmd prompt and it returned that the secondary domain controller was the logon server.

The IT team turned off the second domain controller. I then rebooted the client and executed the echo command, the return showed that the primary domain controller was active. The logon response time did not improve.

The IT team reset the netlogon services on the primary controller. I then logged onto a WinCC client via SIMATIC logon and the authentication took a less than 5 seconds. 

In short, if you WinCC clients are slow to authenticate when using SIMTAC logon start with AD controller and work down from there.
