Hello tuyenc1; Softnet-S7 is a suite of drivers for interfacing PCsto Siemens-supported networks. Siemens defines their communication hardware (for computers) in two families: Hardnet and Softnet. Hardnet processors, CP 5613 for Profibus-DP, CP 1613 for Indusrial Eternet, have the hardware and firmware to interface with the selected network, buffer incoming messages, validate the message contents, parse the telegrams and generally process all the ionformation; they only need to interrupt the PC processor once the data is ready to be used by the appropriate software package. They require Hardnet drivers. Softnet processors, on the other hand, CP 5611 for Profibus-DP, standard NIC for Industrial Ethernet, do not have that hardware/firmware combination to manipulate the incoming data; that has to be done by the PC processor. They interface with the network, but interrupt the PC processor as soon as an incoming message has to be buffered or parsed. The PC processor is interrupted much more often than with Hardnet processors, and the communication efficiency is much less. Softnet drivers are provided for different network interfaces. There are IE Softnet-S7 drivers, PB Softnet-S7 drivers, Softnet-S7 drivers for SCO Unix... The following link takes you to the online A&D Mall, where you will use the Search box to look for different current Siemens products. I have searched for Softnet S7, so you can see the different offers; clicking on any product part numberwill allow you to look at more information and documentation on specific part numbers: https://mall.automation.siemens.com/WW/guest/index.asp?aktPrim=-1&SearchIn=ALL&SearchFor=ARTICLE_NUMBER&SearchScrope=catalog&lang=en&searchText=Softnet+S7 Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
