Some help programming please

Hi all

For my sins I have been asked to try and create a program to operate some hydraulic rubber presses and i'm now struggling.

There are a few safety devises to be put in place as well as top and bottom heater thermocouples, top and bottom heater settings, a pressure sensor, a cure time etc etc. 

The program I can see in my head I'm just having trouble putting it into place. 

So the program would need to be as follows....

Set the desired heater settings on the TD for both the top and bottom heaters.

Set the desired cure time for the rubber compound which would need to start once the set pressure is reached.

Once the cure time is complete the oil pressure will release back to tank and the press will drop open ready for the next cycle. 

There is a "Smartscan" light barrier and an emergency stop to be in place. 

Is there anyone who could help me please?

I have started a program which I can forward for your expert opinion

this is not meant to be a SMART answer but i find it easer to write out the actual process and then break it down into smaller sections that are manageable then just crack on, you wont break it by playing with it :P 

i am writing a program at the moment with quite a lot of instructions but i come from a plc background and making the cross over to Siemens is proving to be a headache but there is loads of help on here and google/youtube etc

Thanks for your input. However I have tried this and seeing as i'm not from a PLC background i'm finding ths very difficult as i am practically teaching myself as i go along. 

If I attach the program I have already created would you be able to have a look over it for me please? 

I am currently struggling with the the cursor operating for separate operations, e.g F1 change cure time F2 top temp setting etc etc. 

Any help would be much appreciated

The safety circuit needs to be constantly alert and ready. If either the light barrier is broken, e-stop pushed or the rear gate open the machine cannot go into cycle mode which I had working. So if I put my hand in the light barrier the TDE screen would glow RED and the "cycle start" button would not do anything. Also when the cycle had started, the counter would run simulating a running cycle and if any of the safety contacts were broken the cycle would stop so I think I had that side of things working OK.

The RTD that I had setup also seemed to be working ok and I was getting a temperature reading on the screen.

The pressure gauge was also working ok. I rigged it up to our compressed air system and a regulator with a gauge and with the gauge reading 3 bar or even 7 bar then the digital reading on the TDE read the same so I am confident that’s ok too.

The main thing I'm struggling with is the settings for the TDE.

When it’s just sat there in want the display to show the actual temps for the top and bottom platens which it does, the remaining cure time and also the pressure all of which seems ok.

What I really need help with is how to setup the TDE buttons as follows:

Press F1 and screen to show the setpoint in minutes and seconds for the cure time. Then use the up and down curser keys to adjust the time.

Press F2 and screen to show the setpoint for the top platen temperature. Then use the up and down curser button to adjust the temp.

Press F3 and screen to show the setpoint for the bottom platen temperature. Then use the up and down curser button to adjust the temp.

Press F4 and the screen to show the number of "Bumps" the press needs. Once again use the curser keys to adjust the amount.

I can help by settingup the menu, i have several projects done already with menu structure with the TDE control.

I understood that you already have the temp. / process control so why dont you upload that part that you already have ......... without kidding the difficult part is the proccess control the HMI is easy.

Incase you want to see for your self there are several examples at this site. where you use F1 and F4 to slide inbetween menu screens and use F2 and F3 for up and down.

dont expect that we design your complete program, to give tips and tricks yes we do or completing a part and we all are learning every day......
