Multiple programmers, multiple locations. Is there a tool available for formal change management? Thanks |

Hello surfdude inbuilt software change management, project versioning, audit trails etc. is a long overdue feature that is sorely missing from Step 7 (I've been toldmany many years ago by ausually reliable source that it'll be part of Step 7 soon, but then againtime is relative, isn't it? I expect this to become a more mainstream feature once Step 7 goes SQL). Anyway, there is nonetheless aSiemens Product available that should do what you are after and it is called Simatic VersionTrail(latest version is V7.1, part number is 6ES7658-1FX17-2YA5and you can find out more about it in its release note HEREand there is even a screencast tutorial available for it HERE). Note that this is strictly speaking a PCS7 product (hence the "odd"part number), it will (should) however work with the "normal" Step 7 (I haven't used it yet so you may want to verify this with your Siemens repand please note too that you will alsoneed Simatic Logon). As an alternative to the above, the guys from www.mdtsoft.comspecialise in making change management softwareand this may be worthwhile considering/evaluating too. I hope this helps |
