Hi neilyboy! The differences between STEP 7 V5.2 an V5.3 are explained here: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/21953134 or in the appending file. But there is no problem to open STEP 7 projects in V5.2, that were created with V5.3. You only have to take care, that all needed software packages (e.g. S7-SCL), that are used by the project, are installed (check in the SIMATIC Manager: project properties -> Required software packages), when you want to edit the project. If you have used new hardware, that is unknown to STEP 7 V5.2, you can manually update the hardware catalog for HW-Config (in HW-Config via: Options -> Install HW updates...). Yes, you can excange data between PLCs using PROFIBUS-DP communication. In this case one PLC is the DP master and the other is the DP slave. This is used to exchange low to average data volumes (up to approx. 200 bytes) very quickly. Have a look at this example: Direct Data Exchange between separate DP Systems via DP Communication |
