Palestine Posts: 74 Rating: (0)	Hello If i use an S5Timer (T0) inside a function then i callthis function many timesit will not work properly, i've looked in the internet and i find that there is another timer could be used for multicall, from the system function blocks called "SFB4 TON IEC_TC" check the attached picture please, but in this timer when the input I0.0 goes 1 the output directly goes also to 1 i don't know why. so what i need is a timer i can call it inside a function many times without any conflict even if i have to build it. can any one help me with that please and if i have to build it could any one help me please?!?! fritz Diamond Expert Joined: 10/7/2005 Last visit: 5/29/2023 Posts: 2965 Rating: (1025)	Hello Palestine If you want to call yourFC(or FB)multiple times and use S5 Timers inside of it, then you must pass on the S5 Timer number to it as an Input paramter(and use a different S5 Timer number for every call, see also attached example pic). If you prefer to use SFB4 instead, you'll need to use anFB (instead of FC) and "embedd" the SFB4 Instance DB in the DB of yourFB (so called Multi Instance call). Have a look at THIS THREAD too, which has more on thesubject of Timers. I hope this helps P.S: If you have a valid "PT" (e.g. T#5s in your example) on your SFB4 call and a 0-->1 transition of the "IN" (I 0.0 of your example),the output (Q 0.0 of your example) will come on5 sec. after the I 0.0went ON (assuming I 0.0 stays ON), so I'm not too sure why you say it does not work in your case. About the SFB4 timer i tried many time but the same result i still dont know why. i will chck what is the thread you gave me. thank you Maybe, you use DB50 or Q0.0 twice in the program? Or: You are using PLCSIM? The older versions of PLCSIM can not handle the IEC-Timer SFB. So you have to install a newer Version or a Hotfix.

Palestine Posts: 74 Rating: (0)	Thank you all for your responses the problem was in the simulator there is a hotfix i've downloaded it. now the SFB4 Timer is working very well BUT, For each timer i need a DB, and in my case i need alot of them, maybe more than"300" timers. Is there any way to use one DB for all the timers or i have to look for another solution - with your help please.

Also, in addition to fritz advice, you can consider to write your own timer - FC by using the system function SFC 1 "READ_CLK" Then you can use a very DBD for the start time memory (timeclicks). If you use the function many times, you just need one DB withone DBD for any function call. By using a DBD as startmemory, you can createtimer with 24h maximum time each. That will be enough for the most purposes, I think so.

Palestine Posts: 74 Rating: (0)	fritz Thank you all over again, the FB is working, not exactly like i want.check the attached picture, in the standers that i know we use for each digital input the block in the picture,we enter only the time, there is no need for an address for the timer -like the S5Timer for example - for each time you call a the block. You know my problem that i worked on anothertype of PLC for along time and now i am trying to implement the standersi know on SIEMENS PLC. IBN-Service thank you but i am sorry to say that i don't know what is the DBD i am going to look for it and learn about it. one more thing, when i build a block some times i needsome temp variables, i have to give it an address for each function call,so youhave an input/output variables appears at the function callthat you don't need. fritz Diamond Expert Joined: 10/7/2005 Last visit: 5/29/2023 Posts: 2965 Rating: (1025)	Hello again palestine without going into the + and - of Siemens PLC's versus others (which wouldn't be a fair fight anyhow in my humble opinion and one thatSiemens would win hands down ), it is suffice to say that you need to "burry"the "other PLC" (Modicon?) programming knowledge somewhere deep inside your brain while working with a "real" PLC (a Siemensone). I trust you checked out the FAQ link I gave you erlier and am not too sure how to say it any clearer than it is described in that link. Nonetheless, attached is a pic which hopefully helps a little bit tooon how to do SFB4 multi instance calls. By the way, there is nothing wrong with using the S5 Timers (no need for multi instance for these) instead of the IEC compliant SFB4.
