USB comm. cable (6ES7 972-0CB20-0XA0) not recognised

chojin Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Windows XP doesn't recognise my USB communications cable (6ES7 972-0CB20-0XA0) for my S7 226 PLC. I have manually installed the driver, but when I insert the USB-cable into the PC. Windows complains with a popup-baloon about "Unknown USB device". It is also listed as such in Windows Device Manager. When I check the device details I noticed that the property "Hardware-id" shows UNKNOWN. On the device itself, everything looks OK. The USB-light lights up when the cable is inserted into the PC.. Is this a malfunction, the device not sending it's hardware-id.. or am I doing something wrong?
