V11 PROFESSIONAL SP2 CRASH

LucaM Advanced Member Joined: 12/29/2008 Last visit: 11/21/2023 Posts: 24 Rating: (3)	I have used up to now TIA Portal V11 with SP1 UP2 on a XP virtual machine, because in my WIN7 ultimate 32 bit the software always crashed when You push button "Project view". Online support didn't solved problem and they asked me to wait SP2. Now I have installed SP2, but the problem doesn't change. WIth "project view" TIA Portal crashes. I enclose the view of the error I have seen other in the forum with same problem from one year. I have made all their suggestion (repair, dcom setting,.....) I'm professional programmer, and the tool is a basic instrument for my job. I need a solution. To work with virtual machine is a crazy way. OK2PPP Posts: 19 Rating: (0)	Hi all, I have the same problem. I am running TIA Portal V11 SP2 on a XP Professional. I am able create project (add HMI device KTP1000 Basic PN eg.), but when I click on any button (Thumbnails->Screens, Tags&connections, Others), the pop-up error window appears (see attachment). Same beaviour is in "PLC part". "Project view" button cases this crash even without created project! What can I do with this software? I am afraid of suggestion to reinstall TIA (it took good 3 hours). OK2PPP Attachment TIA Error.jpg (278 Downloads)

Late Platinum Member Joined: 1/7/2006 Last visit: 11/17/2023 Posts: 2705 Rating: (314)	Hi, I use both (STEP 7 V11 Professional SP1 Upd2 and STEP 7 V11 Professional SP2) under Windows 7 x32 (with SP2 also under x64 possible) and have no problems with this. Do you use also WinCC V7.x on the same machine? With SP1 Upd2 it wasn't possible to use on the same PC the WinCC V7.x, on the version SP2 I don't know. If you have this all the time, then you have to get in contact with your local Siemens technical support, they could help you to find out what happens, they need some logfiles to send to the headoffice. What you also have to check if the compatibility for all packages is ok, when not then crashes are obviously unfortunally.

OK2PPP Posts: 19 Rating: (0)	Hi Late and all, thanks for your answer. I have MicroWin and WinCC Flexible 2008 Siemens soft on my computer only. Fortunately I only test TIA; my two important customers does'nt want S7-200 any more, S7-1200 and S7-300 only. According to others answers and experience, I will wait with 1200 some time. My solution is S7-300, I worked with this 6 years ago and Step7 v5.3 was stable. "Never say never, think in solutions, not in trouble..." is nice proverb, but I have deadlines from my boss and I don't want to be a guinea-pig for Siemens developers. OK2PPP

I have asked if there is a log file to send to understand where is problem. The answer has been not possible to see by log file where is the problem.

Thanks for any feedback Here is a potential path to success.. Create a new XP VM. Install whichever version you have on DVD media to the new VM. Set language to English when prompted, but install any language support as needed. Update to V11 SP2 after install completes and VM restarted. Set language to English when prompted, and again, install any needed language support. Open software. Leave language set to English. Create test project. Add PLC like the test PLC on your desk and set the ip address. Compile all, download to PLC. If it crashes, that is unexpected as this is exactly what I did and it worked. Once you succeed and get online with your PLC, change your system to default to project view rather than the overview. Now set your default language as required for your applications and customer needs. It should work.Oh and be sure the install and project paths have no unicode characters.

In Bin directory I have seen application "Siemens.Automation.Diagnostics.Report.exe". Can it be used to understand where is the problem?
