What is the use of "Edit Ethernet Nodes"

 Dear Friends,

What is the use of "Edit Ethernet Nodes" if I'm already able to accesss it via "View Accessible Nodes".I mean wht it gives extra value.

Hello,

the difference is between "Edit" and "view".

The view you only see the accessible nodes, with Edit you can change the nodes (IP Config, NameOf Station...)

But when i need to use this tool.because i can do this from HW configration. also how it will be possible to change the configuration without downloading?

Hello,

normaly you use this tool if you have devices with no IP Settings or no Name of station in the network.

A automatic assignment of Name and IP to devices from HWConfig data in PLC only possible if you create a TOPOLOGY , if not then the devices get no ip and no name and you must assign this data with edit ethernet nodes.

Or you get a PLC with other IP like the configured in HWConfig, then you can change the PLC IP with edit Ethernet nodes and then download the HWConfig.

What are you talking about is definitely true,but i used to download the HW config and addresses  for a brand new PLC( PLC without ip or name) from the HW configration tool without using the edit ethernet node.

but the download work only for PLC.

What you do with some other devices like ET200, Interface Modules PN, Sinamics Drives?

Here you can not download any HWConfig to the device! And if you need that this devices get a IP and name of station you use the "Edit Ethernet Nodes".

The Download to a brand new PLC ist only possible if the PLC have a factory IP <> 0.0.0.0 !
