Which bash specific command to edit the version string in package .json?

I´m beginner in a shell script so I don´t know which bash specific command to edit the version string in package.json. How should I proceed?

As a workaround: go to /home/root/.node-red/node_modules/node-red-node-intel-gpio/ and edit the version string in that package.json to "0.0.6" (rather than "1.0.0-iot2000"). That should make npm happy again
