WinCC Professional V13 SP1 – Simple Sample: Recipes controlled by control tags (e.g. from PLC commands)

“Simple Samples” are small projects that demonstrate simple features. The target is give a quick overview about the theme and be used as start point for related discussions. Follow there are a short description and the configuration main steps.

Description:

In this simple sample, it is possible to work with recipes (create, download, upload, download), with the help of control tags (e.g. from PLC commands).

Requirements:

WinCC Professional V13 SP1.

Project with a minimum configuration (stop button, tags, recipes,etc. - it example is based in the simple sample “WinCC Professional V13 SP1 – Simple Sample: Recipes” - https://support.industry.siemens.com/tf/br/en/posts/135158/ ).

Configuration main steps:

• Recipe additional settings:

  • project tree → WinCC Professional → Recipes → Recipes properties → Communication → Communication type = Tags

  • project tree → WinCC Professional → Recipes → Recipes properties → Communication → Control tags

    • Instruction → PLC tag, data type Dint (in this example, Data_block_1_instruction)

    • ID → PLC tag, data type Dint (in this example, Data_block_1_ID)

    • Field → PLC tag, data type String (in this example, Data_block_1_field)

    • Value → PLC tag, data type String (in this example, Data_block_1_value)

• In this example, these variables are available as IO field in the screen as didactic proposes (the user can simulate any command manually). Buttons automatize some commands sequences, as example, despite it should be done (in most of cases) by the PLC.

• There is two ways to send commands, each one should follow some rules:

  • Commands by Instruction / ID (instruction show what to do, ID shows where (data record) to do)– Rules:

    • Instruction could have the follow values:

      • 6 = transfer data from controller to data record

      • 7 = transfer data from data record to controller

      • 8 = delete data record

    • ID could have the follow values:

      • Positive values (>0): Data record number (ID)

      • -1 = refer a new data record or (for deletion, the lowest available ID)

      • -6 = refer to data record with the lowest available ID

      • -9 = refer to data record with the highest available ID

    • Once WinCC read a ID different as zero, it executed and save back on ID

      • 0 = job executed successful

      • -1 = job not executed (error)

    • TIP: first fill ID and after that fill Instruction (to avoid wrong command interpretation)

       

  • Commands by Instruction / Field / Value (instruction show what to do, where to do is done by searching in the data record field with name “Field” and value “Value”) – Rules:

    • The element used in the search should have no repeated values. Element properties → Optioins → "unique value"

    • Instruction could have the follow values:

      • 6 = transfer data from controller to data record

      • 7 = transfer data from data record to controller

      • 8 = delete data record

    • Field:

      • String with the name of the element (data record field) to be search

    • Value:

      • String with the relative value (key) to be searched.

    • Once WinCC read a ID different as zero, it executed and save back on ID

      • 0 = job executed successful

      • -1 = job not executed (error)

    • TIP: fill Instruction at last (to avoid wrong command interpretation)
