I want to scan the I/O's in the S5 directly not via a datablock. WinCC tags are assigned directly to inputs/outputs. Forexample I have a WinCC tag assigned to Q8.3 to indicate ON status of a pump. Thanks

I want to scan the I/O's in the S5 directly not via a datablock. WinCC tags are assigned directly to inputs/outputs. For example I have a WinCC tag assigned to Q8.3 to indicate ON status of a pump. Dear Farra, It is possible, but you couldn't ask for one bit, for S5 it is at least one word... So it is very complicated to get the right output to the right bit on WinCC. It is easier and also much faster if you copy the outputs to one datablock so that changes in I/O could be very easy changed. On the Ethernet it is data, no I/O, so the difference is not that much.... I would recoment datablocks where you copy the data that you want to. With a script, you could manage it to get the right data from a word, it is also cheaper because you didn't nead that amount of TAGs what you need for every BOOL (1:16 !!),

Dear Farra, That is the way how is life, take the easiest way.... But it is better then trying for a long time to get something almost impossible to work and loosing a lot of time when there is a easy way to do it...
