WinCC V7 SP3 connecting Client Server not available

Zein Bronze Member Joined: 5/27/2009 Last visit: 10/10/2024 Posts: 122 Rating: (8)	Hi everyone, some days ago i was making test with Windows 2008 Ent R2 64 bits Server and WinCC v7SP3, i tested a Client-Server connection and it worked...but unfortunately we have compatibility issues with another software and we had to change Windows to Windows 2008 SP2 32bits, Server was configured again with same options but now Clients can't connect. If i tried to launch the project trough the shared folder WinCCExplorer Opens and ask for user and password but as soon as i entered it shows "Server not Available". I dont know why now its not working. I have the same subred and network segment, same workgroup, SIMATIC HMI Permissions, Licenses Ok. I have tried to open with simatic shell also but i get an error when i tried to interconnect i only can activate or deactivate remote. Hope someone can help. Thank u. You can check that on link below: https://support.automation.siemens.com/kompatool/pages/main/index2.jsf Check these things in your Server & Clients - 1. Check your workgroup name. It should be same in all PC's. 2. Check the User Name & Password. It should be also same for all PC's. And all admin rights to be given to this user name. 3. Network Card Drivers should be installed on all PC's. 4. Check the permission of Shared Folder. It should have complete access. 5. Also, Check whether OS Assignment is done for the Clients. 6. Check your PCS7 installation on all PC's

(Its the same in all PCs) 2. Check the User Name & Password. It should be also same for all PC's. And all admin rights to be given to this user name. (It's different for server and client, but it was working already with different credentials) 3. Network Card Drivers should be installed on all PC's. (Its Ok) 4. Check the permission of Shared Folder. It should have complete access. (It has administrator and Simatic Grouop permissions) 5. Also, Check whether OS Assignment is done for the Clients. (i don't undertand this point) 6. Check your PCS7 installation on all PC's (I see something SIMATIC NET, PC Software, Edition 2008 but im not sure if that is PCS7) What is PCS7? Im triying to find WinCC Logs to read them, maybe there is more information about error.

Zein Bronze Member Joined: 5/27/2009 Last visit: 10/10/2024 Posts: 122 Rating: (8)	After reading and triying a lot of things i think my problem is because my Windows Server 2008 doesn't have Hyper V, but Hyper V can't be installed over 32 bits. So... maybe i would have to change my S.O. again. In anyway compatibility table is confuse because it says WinCCv7SP3 it's compatible with Windows Server 2008 SP2 32 bits but not allowed without Hyper V (but HyperV only works with 64 bits)so.... maybe it just works for single station but not Client-Server.

Zein Bronze Member Joined: 5/27/2009 Last visit: 10/10/2024 Posts: 122 Rating: (8)	After many test we decided to reinstall Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise, but guess what now is not working neither... now everytime a try to open the project through shared folder or simatic shell it shows this..." Cannot open/create WinCC Project - Project Manager can't start basis application XREF" One thing im worry about its in WinCC SP3 i don't get the screen i have attached. And comparing with WinCC SP2 this Status Multi-User Server appears even if there are no client connected. I think it can be a problem with RPC Protocol but i have checked and the services are up. I have applied all security configurations again using Security Controller just to be sure.. but is still the same, another weird thing is that i cannot create a new project in the client. At first sigh i though it was a SQL problem but i uninstall all WinCC and SQL Software and installed again (even the instance)... i don't know what else i can do.. any ideas? Zein Bronze Member Joined: 5/27/2009 Last visit: 10/10/2024 Posts: 122 Rating: (8)	Yes i just did it, in fact i had two problems: -First i had some issues with Windows security and share permissions, and because of that the only way to start runtime aplication in client was opening WinCC Explorer and using the option Open File, because if i tried to open from shared folder first i couldn't. My Windows Permissions are full to: -SIMATIC HMI -SIMATIC HMI VIEWER -SIMATIC CS -Administrators -Administrator (who is executing WinCC in Server) -UserX (Who is the same user i am using in clients to access the application) -MicrosoftSQLUserWinCCAppName - Second i was triying to open the WinCCApplication in Client using Remote Desktop... and it seems to be some issues with this(even using /console). When i arrived to PC Client to start the application in site this works without problem. I hope this can help.

XuanKy Posts: 25 Rating: (3)	WINCC is working in multiuser client -server, but when open the server from client there is the warning: SERVER IS NOT AVAILABLE. 1. Client and server is not set in the same network card in simatic shell. what you do is go to client PC open MY COMPUTER, below the Drives you see SIMATIC SHELL . Right click on Simatic Shell, choose network card you want Client and Server communication each other. 2. Beside that main reason you must make sure: - 2 PCs in LAN and see each other in Network - Server project is shared with full control and permission to everyone - Client Name is display in server project - User is configured in server project ....
