Windows Server 2008 >R2< SP1 & WinCC

fdv Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hi there. I have two servers with Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 and I want to install WinCC 7 to it. Can I do it? I do not need WS2008 based on Vista and I do not have it, but I have WS2008 R2 SP1 (one x32 and one x64) and need to install puscharged WinCC 7 to it. How? WinCC ask "No! Give me only simple WS2008!". But why!? Thank you.

All of the operating systems are 32 bit. WinCC V7.0 SP2 now supports the following operating systems: Windows 2003 Server SP2 (Server/ Single-User / Client) Windows 2003 Server R2 SP2 (Server / Single-User / Client) Windows 2008 Server SP2 (32bit) (Server / Single-User / Client) Windows XP Professional SP3 (Single-User / Client / Server up to 3 clients) Windows 7 (32bit) Professional, Enterprise, Ultimate (Single-User / Client) There is a service pack scheduled for WinCC before the end of this year that will include support for 64 bit operating systems. There is also a link to a microsoft site with instructions on downgrading from R2 on Server 2008 in the pdf document for the compatibility list Good Luck billwest

fdv Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Ok, I understand it. But I need to start WinCC 7 with WS2008 R2 SP1. I have to buy another one, now an older version of Windows specifically for wincc 7? I don't see reason not to work WinCC with 2008 R2. How to bypass the restriction on the first step of installation? So, if WinCC 7 can be installed to Windows 7, why it can't be installed to WS2008 R2 SP1?

Downgrade of windows server you can on this address: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/downgrade-TC.aspx ps: this page for downgrade works only in internet explorer after downgrade you can download windows server 2008 there: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=5023 but you must download 32-bit version (6001.18000.080118-1840_x86fre_Server_en-us-KRMSFRE_EN_DVD.iso) and service pack 2 for windows server there: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=16468

fdv Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Jan, thank you. I know it. I can't accept WinCC restrictions around WS2008 R2. I can't install automation system to Vista-based system, because it extremely unstable platform. It hard for me, but, I see, not for Siemens.
