Hello Osman; What you are describing is called "multicomputing" in Siemens world. Here is a description found in tne following manual: S7-400 CPU specifications: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/44444467 What is multicomputing? Multicomputing refers to the concurrent operation of several (max. 4) CPUs which are capable of multicomputing in a central S7-400 system. The participating CPUs automatically change their status in synchronism. That is all CPUs are in synchronism during startup and transitions to STOP. Every CPU executes its own user program, irrespective of the user programs in the other CPUs. This feature facilitates the execution of control tasks in parallel. So the answer to your first point is in that quote: the CPUs go to Stop/Run mode together. Hello Osman; You must make sure that only one CPU "owns" a I/O module, in your configuration. It can be any of the CPUs in the rack, but each module will only be read/written to by a single CPU. You can communicate between 2 or more CPUs in the same rack over the backplane, therefore withourt external cables.. The S7-400 rack's backplane is divided in 2 sections, the P-bus (for power and digital signals) and the K-bus (for analog signals and communications).
