C7-636 KEY software requirements?

plasmabiotal Member Joined: 1/4/2022 Last visit: 5/20/2024 Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Dear all, I have been tasked with transferring the programs from a 'dead' (CPU shorted) C7-636 key into a second hand working unit. It appears that the C7-636 key is a S7-300 315-2 DP CPU and an OP270 6" panel combined into one unit. Looking at the manuals if I swap out the CF card and the SD card I 'should' be able to get back online as the user programs for both are stored on the respective memory cards. Ideally I would like to 1) make a restorable backup of both programs beforehand in case something goes wrong and possibly even get a fully working unit set up and ready to go as a plug and play critical spare 2) be able to access the programs on both and edit if required, possibly aiming to upgrade this system in the future. I currently use Step 7 basic V16 for programming S7-1200 PLC's and basic panels but I will need to upgrade, I am posting here asking for any advice on software compatibility and the best solution as I am not as familiar with this legacy equipment? Will TIA Step 7 professional offer access to the OP270 panel as well as the S7-300 PLC? Can I use Prosave to make a backup of the OP270 panel? Is it possible to make a bootable clone of the SD card / CF cards using any other siemens software? If I cannot use TIA step 7 professional to interface with the OP270 panel do I have to get a legacy software i.e. ProTool Version 6 SP 3 or higher, or WinCC flexible Standard Version 2004 or higher (as listed on the product page) and if so will I have problems running this on windows 10? You won´t get the old project into TIA. The device is too old to get migrated to it. The one chance you have is to change the old project to an CPU that can be migrated to TIA in Step7 classic. Also the panel could be a problem because its too old for TIA. And yes, you need a professional License Key for TIA to project S7-300 controller. hope this helps, regards,

Unfortunately I do not have the original project - would it be possible to set up a legacy windows machine specifically for this HMI/PLC and then install on it copies of both Simatic manager and protool? If I had this set up do you think it would it be possible then to go 'online' and download the programs off of the device - I was also thinking about acquiring an old field PG of that era with the software already installed on it to achieve the same goal. Wizard Diamond Expert Joined: 4/24/2006 Last visit: 11/15/2024 Posts: 8768 Rating: (1171)	Hello, When you have a PC/PG with Simatic Manager (Step 7) and the right Programming cable, it should be possible to go online and upload your PLC program. So you would have the program, however without comments and symbols. Because you do not have the original project. You can only Backup the HMI using Prosave (And restore it on the same type of panel, using Prosave) Here you can download Prosave: Servicetool SIMATIC ProSave Or older version: ServiceTool ProSave V1.1 You will need Protool if you want to start your HMI project all over again.
