Module error I'm trying to add an input /output module but the firmware is version 2 and no other firmware in drop down list. My cpu is running version 4.0. How can I change the I/O module firmware or add it into the drop down list please? cpu : 1212 : 6ES7 212-1AE40-0XB0 I/O Module : 6ES7 223-1BH32-0XB0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

Why do you want change the firmware version of this module? I am not aware of any updates for this module. Claudio. |

Here's the link to the firmware available for the IO module: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/109767662/ For every available firmware version for the module, the correct module firmware is 2.0. Ignore the patch version (2.0.x where x is the patch version) when configuring the IO. If your PLC has FW 4.0 and your project has that S7-1212 with FW 4.0, you are able to compile and download the hardware configuration to the PLC and everything will communicate and work. If you are thinking the SIMATIC PLC firmware system works like the SINAMICS firmware system, you are going to have to think again. In SIMATIC, the PLC and modules have unique FW values. In SINAMICS, the Control Unit is used to update the firmware of all the modules in the Sinamics system to the same relative version as the CU. S7-1200/S7-1500's do not work the same as the Sinamics drive systems.
