Sorry, Step 7 is dedicated to s7-300 and S7-400 controllers only.

You need Step 5 to open and modify a S5 program, if you plan on working with Siemens products.

The S5 manuals and FAQs are different depending on the family of PLCs (i.e, S5-95U, S5-115U...).

Please give us the name of the CPU you are trying to troubleshoot,Your CPU will have such a name as CPU 928, or CPU 103... And give us more information on the CPU hardware, such as whether there is an EEPROM slotted in the CPU (part number) and all communictaion or function modules in the PLC rack, along with a basic description of the troubles you are facing (loss of program, diagnostic LEDs that are active, etc...).

Look for the information on the main diagnostic tool in Step 5 called the IStack in these manuals.
