466-3LA11 Analog Input Module is starting detecting Signal from 8 mA not 4 mA

a.izmeqna Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Dears, I have replaced an old Analog Input Module 466-3LA11 with new one. All Input Signals are in the range 4-20 mA, However, I found out that the signals that are less than 8 mA are shown as Zero, and "Broken Wire Alarm" is appearing!!! When I used the Loop Calibrator to inject 4-20 mA Signals I found that the above case is applied for all channels, even though the sittings of the Dip Switches are Checked and confirmed. I need to know why a shift of 4 mA is there??!! Your positive feedback is appreciated. Regards,

Navnag Platinum Expert Joined: 11/21/2007 Last visit: 9/25/2024 Posts: 2325 Rating: (308)	Hello The problem could be either in the Measuring range sub-module or the internal Analog to Digital conversion circuit. Are you using only one 4-20mA sub module for checking all the channels ? If you are using only one sub module then try another one. It is unlikely that all 4 sub modules are faulty. Since this AI Module has only one Analog to Digital convertor for all the 16 channels, if all sub modules are OK then obvious doubt is on the Card's internal circuit. In this case pl try another module. Hope this helps Cheers Navnag

a.izmeqna Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hello, Thanks for your reply. Actually there are two AI Modules of the same Model (466-3LA11), both of them are having the same issue, and both of them are new!! They are installed adjacent to each other; would it be the settings of the switches, but both of them are configured of exactly the same settings, only the address was changed. I wanted to know whether I am missing any jumper here or there. Regards,

In this case all DIP sw settings must be identical to the old card being replaced. Are there ane differences in the DIP Switches design of the old and the new card ?

a.izmeqna Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Dears, Thanks very much for your interest in solving issue. The problem was solved, and you wouldn't believe what the issue was!!! The issue was in the Digital Input Module on the same Rack; the module was faulty and was repaired by an Electronics Expert, it seems that he did something wrong in the DI Module. When I replaced the DI Module with another on, the problem of AI Module was solved, and the Machine now is ready to start finally. For further details about the issue, please feel free to notify me.
