Simple sample: VoT Using WinCC Unified to create S7-1500 web pages

As from TIA V17 there is a new feature: VoT (View of Things).In the United VoT for PLC web application the data that you have configured for a PLC in TIA Portal with Unified WinCC are displayed in a web browser.

There is a detailed information about how to do it in the TIA help system (search for VoT and select the first item, “Configuring Unified VoT for PLC (RT Unified)” – It is also available in the navigation Information System, Visualizing Process with View of Things (RT Unified))

Here there are the main steps:

1. Create a project with a S7-1500,
2. CPU Properties, web server, general, check the option “activate web server on this module”.
3. On the User management create a user, password and set its access level.
4. Project tree, PLC, Web Appliction, click on “Add new VoT application”
5. Create a screen and configure it as usual in WinCC unified.
6. Compile the CPU (hardware and software) as usual
7. Compile the Web application (it has a separate compilation). Select the web application folder, right mouse click, compile, software (rebuild all)
8. Select the PLC and download it (note that in the load window you should check a specific option under “Web Applications” to run the download).

TIPs:

• The compile command of the PLC configuration and the web page are separate, but the download is together.
• The object set to VoT is reduced if compared with an HMI application.
• To acess the S7-1500 web page uses the password defined in the CPU's web password list configuration, not the general "security settings", "users and roles" .
• VoT uses the load (SD) memory. Minimal space: about 8MB.An efficient way to check how much memory your VoT application is using is download it on the PLCSIM Advanced and look the memory usage in the CPU Online & Diagnose. If the size of the program exceed of the Load memory the download will be refused.
• It is possible to create up to 10 screens and 100 tags on the screens.  TIP: If these limits were exceeded a warning (not error) will be show  in the compile log.
• You can access the VoT page with the URL "Controler IP Address" /~"VoT application Name / Index.htm
